National Psychosis Unit (NPU) is looking for committed and energetic Band 2 Activities coordinator to be part of our busy team. It is the role of the Activities Coordinator to offer group and individual activities under the direct and indirect supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist. You will be encouraged to use technical and creative skills to assist in the provision of a flexible, client centred programme of recreational and therapeutic activities for individuals and groups of patients who all have complex psychosis.

This is a great opportunity to work with highly experienced and respected colleagues from all professions. We are highly resourced with respected and published doctors and psychologists. Our ward occupational therapy team is linked to a wider service supporting the site, and provides a varied therapeutic program. The multi-disciplinary team is strong and expects collaboration on all areas of work.

The NPU is housed at Fitzmary 2 Ward in Bethlem Royal Hospital, near Croydon. NPU offers a total of 23 beds to male & female service users living with severe & enduring psychosis that has proven difficult to treat in their home boroughs. Our primary task is to apply modern research and creative, professional working to identify treatment pathways with service users. Our aim is that each service user will have the very best chance to engage in decision making and maximise their own recovery – even where previous approaches have proven unsuccessful. The work is challenging but rewarding.

SLAM is committed to the principle of learning from those who use our services, carers and families. We believe in the putting the service user at the centre of their own care process, and this is reflected in the day-to-day systems of all our wards. We will support the post holder first to complete all mandatory/statutory training, and then to go further and identify areas professional development.

If you meet the shortlisting criteria you will be invited to an assessment/interview.
