We provide care for men who live in the London Borough of Croydon.
We offer psychiatric assessment, care and treatment in hospital, which helps to reduce the risk to self and others.
Our service brings together teams of health and social care professionals, including nurses, social workers and psychiatrists.
You will work collaboratively assessing needs of service users, plans, implements and evaluates the care given to a group of clients experiencing mental health problems. Working on these wards provides a variety of skills including coordination and excellent communication both written and verbal to enhance patient care at all times.
At the Bethlem Hospital we have two wards who provide this care and they are as follows:
Tyson West 1 - We work closely with the Croydon Home Treatment Team to support people when they leave hospital and to help maintain their health. We have a separate, designated place of safety, a ‘136 Suite’ (Place of Safety), where they can be admitted, assessed and cared for.
Gresham 2 - We offer services for men, aged 18-65, who have acute mental illness and require 24 hour hospital care. Acute illnesses start quickly and have distressing symptoms.
Our purpose is to support all staff with good experiential learning, regular supervision, access to training and a continuous programme of professional development inclusive of preceptorship, mentorship and revalidation. We also provide a wide range of specialist SLAM courses such as CBT, Physical Health Care, Mindfulness and also external training up to and including Masters level.
We have a strong focus on staff well-being and support and believe in investing in our workforce to provide stability, consistency and a healthy safe professional group.
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, caring and creative people to come and join us and work within an exciting and fast paced environment that provides inpatient care to acutely unwell adults.
We welcome applications from final year of your RMN/LD students who are qualifying within 3 months and as well as experienced qualified nurses.
If successful at shortlisting stage you will be invited to an assessment on the Friday, 8th December 2017, at the ORTUS learning and events centre.
