We deliver specialist neuropsychiatry services to provide assessment, investigation and treatment for patients with: a functional neurological disorder, a mental illness or other neuropsychiatric conditions.
You will gain a deeper understanding of Neurological illness and how it often influences a patient’s behaviour either as a direct result of trauma or due to pathophysiological changes to the brain such as movement disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders including inherited metabolic disorders, epilepsy, sleep disorders, Korsakoff syndrome, etc.
As the nurse in charge you have the ability to manage complex situations and supervise HCAs and students. You will be a strong advocate for patients who find it difficult to express their needs and may require a high level of assistance with their personal care and psychological needs.
Your abilities as a neuropsychiatric nurse will mean that you will effectively contribute to assessments of Neurological, psychiatric, cognitive and function will obtain an accurate picture of the patient. You know how to build a therapeutic and meaningful relationship with a patient who comes to you with significant physical and psychological difficulties but with your active involvement in both the planning and delivery of their care means the patient will have improved outcomes.
We want you to maintain your knowledge and skills as part of this role we offer specialist training in managing and supporting this patient group.

If successful at shortlisting stage you will be invited to an assessment on the Friday, 22nd February 2019 at the ORTUS learning and events centre.
