A fantastic opportunity has arisen on Eileen Skellern One (ES1) Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at The Maudsley Hospital Denmark Hill for the post of Interim Ward Manager for Twelve (12) months. We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative individual who is committed to providing individualised evidenced based care.

You will need to be an experienced individual who is interested in developing your management and leadership skills further in this intense and rewarding setting. ES1 PICU is one among four of the psychiatric intensive care units within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLAM). It is the only female PICU and accommodates patients from across the four boroughs. Due to its specialist nature, the team is full of highly experienced, innovative, creative and trained professionals proving to be an attractive place to work.

This service also attracts joint service working with all PICU wards within the trust, giving opportunity for close working relationships and benefits from shared practises and support. We accept admissions from local acute services, emergency departments, community and prison. Service users receive treatment and support, to enable them to move on to acute wards and on occasions directly to the community. The team benefits from having a multi-disciplinary team consisting of a Consultant, Qualified Nurses, Speciality doctor, junior doctor, Senior Occupational Therapist (OT) and dedicated Psychology input. Research opportunities are abundant and we have a number of students from all disciplines.

The successful candidate will be passionate about patient care and lead the dedicated multi-professional team in providing high quality patient care. The post holder will be a ‘self-starter’ and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a multi professional team. You should be a band 6 or band 7 who is interested in developing / continuing to develop your leadership and management skills.
