Full-Time Clinical Psychology post

South London and the Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust provides Tier 4 services to all children and young people living within the county of Kent. We are seeking to recruit a Clinical Psychologist for this post based at the Kent and Medway Adolescent Unit, Woodland House, Staplehurst, near Maidstone, It comprises 2 units with 24 beds in total for adolescents aged 12-18. The units offer in-patient provision and an Assessment, Liaison and Outreach Team who all work closely to provide a package of care best suited to the young person. 

On the Kent and Medway Adolescent Unit you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing psychological assessment and interventions for adolescents who present with complex mental health problems such as eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, psychotic and affective disorders and borderline personality disorder. Your clinical work will be primarily within one of the two units at Woodland House, although there is some flexibility in terms of working into the other unit. As well as clinical work, you will provide support, consultation and supervision to other members of the multidisciplinary team.

You will join a highly experienced specialist inpatient psychology team (who work across three Child & Adolescent In-patient units in London as well as the two in Kent). The service also provides placements for several clinical psychology training programmes. There are exciting research and service development opportunities and the service provides placements for several clinical psychology training programmes. Excellent supervision, support and opportunities for Continued Professional Development are available.

Clinical supervision will be provided by the Principal Clinical Psychologist within Woodland House. Networking with the wider Child & Adolescent service within SLAM will be encouraged.

DPsych Clinical trainees who are in the final stages of completing their doctorate would be considered for this job provided they anticipate completion. However, special transitional arrangements will be put in place, if proof of qualification and HCPC registration have not been received by the start date, and provided all clinical placements have been passed.
