Nelson Ward – Acute Female Inpatients, Lambeth Hospital
This is an exciting opportunity for an OT to join an established ward team working with female service users and their carers during periods of acute mental health relapse. You will be supervised and supported by a Band 7 OT and a very experienced multi- disciplinary team. The OT role is very established and valued on Nelson ward. You will have access to ward based staff support and Psychology led case discussion groups alongside monthly OT professional development meetings.
This post will be of interest to those wishing to develop further expertise in working with women and the impact of issues often associated with this population including parenting, substance misuse and domestic violence. There is also a strong emphasis on supporting service users to achieve sustainable recovery and well-being.
Your responsibilities will include; being a member of the senior ward team and leading on areas of quality improvement, supervising junior staff with an expectation to take students on placement and taking on ward based roles such as being a carer’s lead.
You will need to be dynamic, creative, forward thinking, compassionate and a hard-working occupational therapist, with solid mental health experience. You will be competent in carrying out occupationally focused assessments and interventions in a busy environment.
The ward is based at Lambeth Hospital, with good public transport links nearby (both underground, rail and bus).
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
