South London & Maudsley NHS Trust runs Lambeth Talking Therapies, an Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service. This is a successful, established service and we looking for a number of qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs).

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to develop the service and help us in the challenges ahead. This is a busy clinical post, offering brief clinical work in line with NICE guidance, mainly with depression and anxiety disorders. We provide mostly face-to-face guided self-help, as well as telephone sessions and via our online therapy program. It will involve co-facilitating groups and workshops, and administration including data entry. Regular individual supervision from an experienced therapist will be provided and we have monthly skills groups.

We are committed to helping to develop the people that come to work with us. We know that the Trust can only be as good as the people who work here, and we will invest in you to maximise that potential. We really welcome new members of the team and value our staff highly. We provide a number of opportunities for qualified PWPs to develop within the role, and our experienced PWPs treat clients with a range of disorders including OCD and social anxiety. We encourage and support our team to build on areas of interest, such as attending training and developing specialist skills in working with long term conditions. We find that the role is often a springboard for PWPs to develop and excel in their chosen career paths.

The working week will be 9am - 5pm for four days, with an evening once per week working from 12pm - 8pm. Periodically throughout the year the post-holder will be expected to co-facilitate sets of three Saturday morning workshops as part of their working week, from 9am – 1pm.

They will be based in GP surgeries, and also have time at one of the team bases. These are based all across Lambeth in Streatham, Brixton, and in Stockwell. You will need to be able to work flexibly, with sessions in different locations throughout the week as required.

The post holders will be committed to working as part of a team and collaboratively with GPs, other PWPs, High Intensity CBT Therapists and our counselling teams. This is a busy clinical post, involving working to agreed targets for clinical activity.

Lambeth is a borough of high social and psychological needs with considerable cultural diversity. We would particularly welcome candidates who are fluent in Portuguese (we have a large Brazilian and Portuguese community) or in Spanish (for our Latin American clients), or who represent our black and ethnic minority population. Our team has over 40 staff, with Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, High Intensity CBT Therapists, and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and is led by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
