The Ladywell is a mental health unit based at the University Hospital in Lewisham. The Ladywell unit is part of South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
Powell Ward is an 18 bed male acute ward and Wharton ward has 18 bed female acute wards. Clare Ward is 17 beds for male acute ward. (Acute Clinical Academic CAG Wards). These wards are for people aged 18-65, with acute psychiatric illnesses who requires hospital admission. Acute illnesses start quickly and have distressing symptoms. We provide care for people who live mainly in the London Borough of Lewisham; however, there are admissions from other Boroughs that are within the Trust.
We offer psychiatric assessment, care and treatment in hospital, which helps reduce the risk to self and others. The treatment is a multi-disciplinary approach with a broad range of interventions delivered by a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers and other therapists.
We are actively looking to recruit highly competent Clinical Support Workers to join our male and female acute wards at the Ladywell Unit. Lewisham Hospital.
The post holder will be supported under the national Apprenticeships Scheme to complete a 12 month development programme on the job; in line with the Apprenticeships Standards (2017). The Care Certificate forms part of the training and covers most of the required mandatory training within the Trust.
Post holders with a ‘Care Certificate’ issued by the former employer will be expected to submit their certificate and portfolio of evidence, to the Education and Development Department for verification and further guidance on how to proceed once commencing the Apprenticeship Programme
The programme will also involve off ward training to ensure clinical support workers have the time to develop and consolidate their learning.

This role provides an exciting opportunity to be part of the excellent nursing teams on our male and female wards where the ethos is for an enhanced therapeutic alliance and elevated levels of engagement.
There will be opportunities for professional development and staff will be encouraged to flourish in their role. On-going structured supervision and appraisal will also be provided to all staff.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
