We are looking to recruit a number of driven and passionate mental health nurses to work across the three South London and Maudsley PICU wards. 10 bedded Female PICU based at the Maudsley Hospital in Denmark Hill, Eden which is a male PICU based in Lambeth, and Johnson which is a 10 bedded male PICU based in Lewisham.
Our PICU wards support and care for some of the most vulnerable service users from our community and offer a highly challenging environment within a fast paced and diverse work setting. PICU is an exciting service to be part of we work within specialist multi-disciplinary team, delivering high quality, intensive care to patients experiencing acute mental illness. We want our nurses to learn and develop their skills, including working with and supporting clients with severe mental illness and widely varying, complex needs, risk assessment and risk management.
Adults in crisis are admitted to the wards and are supported by a large staff team of nurses, doctors, health care assistants and psychiatrists. There is a wide remit for a nursing role within PICU which requires networking and collaborating with numerous internal and external stakeholders.
There is a high level of opportunity to develop as a band 5 nurse we offer additional training that is specialised to our service giving you risk assessment and risk management skills which are invaluable in the mental health profession. There is also the opportunity to work across the other PICU sites in order to gain further experience of working in different areas and meeting staff from the other teams. We are planning to hold a PICU B5 away day this year which will bring all band 5 nurses across the PICU service together to meet and learn from each other and to develop best practice.
You must be a qualified RMN or LD Nurse or in the final year of your RMN/LD course qualifying within 3 months.
