An excellent opportunity has arisen within the female acute wards at the Ladywell Unit, University Hospital Lewisham. We are 18 bedded female wards who support and care for some of the most vulnerable service users from our community.

Female acute wards are an exciting service to be part of as we work within specialist multi-disciplinary team, delivering high quality care to patients experiencing acute mental illness. We want our nurses to learn and develop their skills, including working with and supporting clients with severe mental illness and widely varying, complex needs, risk assessment and risk management.

Adults in crisis are admitted to the wards and are supported by a large motivated team of nurses, doctors, health care assistants, psychologists, Occupational Therapists and psychiatrists. There is a wide remit for a nursing role within acute wards which requires networking and collaborating with numerous internal and external stakeholders.

There is a high level of opportunity to develop as a Clinical Charge Nurse, we offer additional training that is required for the role including an opportunity to deputise on behalf of the ward manager therefore developing your leadership skills which is invaluable in the mental health profession.

We are looking to recruit an individual who is highly motivated, enthusiastic with a positive attitude who can support the Ward Manager and Staff Team to ensure we are evidencing the excellent care we provide.

A key role of the Clinical Charge Nurse is to lead by example and be a role-model for the nursing team. We are looking for an individual who is able to support junior staff in their professional development, through excellent and effective clinical leadership, mentoring and sharing of knowledge.

You will work closely with the Ward Manager to ensure that the ward maintains the highest standards of care provision and safe levels of staffing. You will also have a role in all aspects of service development and improvement. In return for your commitment you will receive excellent training, professional development and supervision.

Please note that applicants should be available for interview on the 15 May 2018.
