National & Specialist CAMHS are seeking to recruit a full time Clinical Psychologist on a fixed term maximum 27 month contract. The postholder will work on a new research project (Imagining Futures) and be attached to the Adolescent At-risk & Forensic Service which offers evidence-based assessment and intervention to young people who are engaged in, or present significant risk of, self-harm, serious violence, sexual exploitation and/or sexually inappropriate behaviour.
Applicants are invited to join the innovative Imagining Futures project that involves collaboration between National & Specialist CAMHS and Ovalhouse Theatre Company. We will develop and run a 40 week programme combining dialectical behaviour therapy and a participatory arts programme. The role will involve developing the programme, co-facilitating the groups, psychological and cognitive assessment of young people, report writing, and adjunct individual DBT treatment work. There will also be a significant research component to the role including: overseeing data collection, analysis and publication. The post-holder will be based at Ovalhouse but attached to the Adolescent At-risk & Forensic Service at the Michael Rutter Centre, Maudsley Hospital. The post-holder will be supervised by Dr Troy Tranah (project lead and head of Adolescent At-risk and Forensic Service).
The postholder will have relevant experience of assessment and intervention (dialectical behaviour therapy) with adolescents who present high levels of risk to themselves and/or others and who may be vulnerable to exploitation. Research, teaching, training and supervision of junior members of staff are all important aspects of the post.
The successful candidate will be asked to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
