We are seeking a Clinical Psychologist to work with the Learning Disabilities Team within the SCAAND service at SLaM National and Specialist Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).

The Service for Complex Autism & Associated Neurodevelopmental Disorders (SCAAND) is an NHS England funded specialist service for children and young people with autism and complex mental health difficulties.

The Learning Disabilities Team (LDT) see young people with complex mental health needs including high risk behaviours, physical disabilities and autism, in addition to an intellectual disability. We have an additional funding stream for young people with mental health difficulties and a learning disability without autism. The service sees children and young people to provide comprehensive assessment and treatment, as well as providing advice to assist local teams in planning for the future care of the service user.

The post holder will deliver psychological assessment and treatment of young people referred to SCAAND LDT under the supervision of a senior clinical psychologist. This will include psychometric, cognitive and neuropsychological assessment of children and young people with complex social communication and mental health difficulties. Additionally, the post holder will be responsible for delivering evidence-based psychological treatments for young people, parents and families on both an individual and group basis.

The post holder will contribute to assuring service quality by using psychological knowledge and understanding of child and adolescent mental health theories and to training, research, audit and service development and interpretation of complex data as directed by a senior psychologist. The post holder will additionally be involved with service research tasks, including overseeing evaluation and clinical governance of the service, supported by an Assistant Psychologist and trainees whom they will supervise, and supported by senior psychologists.
