A unique opportunity is available for a credible, passionate and capable senior nurse to strategically lead the education, development and workforce planning across three successful mental health trusts.

South West London and St Georges Mental Health Trust, Oxleas and South London and Maudsley mental health trust have partnered as South London Partnership to take on the challenge of providing consistently high-quality services that are effective and make the best use of resources. One important stream of the work is ensuring we have the right number of nurses, with the right skills to meet service user need. The three directors of nursing have worked closely together to develop the SLP Nursing Development programme, we now require a senior nurse with a proven track record of delivery to ensure that the education and development opportunities for our nurses is high quality, accessible and linked to the needs of our service users. It is imperative that we work well with the HEIs across South London and beyond so that we fully exploit the new roles and development opportunities being made available to us. The post holder will need to engage with nurses in training, with preceptees and our developing workforce.

The role has a broad span of responsibility and influence however, across the SLP there are existing senior nurse structures to support delivery, the applicants will need to feel confident in their ability to work across organisational boundaries and to influence. Applicants will need to be confident in their ability to work autonomously and have an ability to communicate effectively from floor to board.

This role is likely to appeal to either a committed nurse educationalist or a senior nurse on the pathway to director of nursing wishing to expand experience.

Within this role there is also an opportunity for the right candidate to be a part of the educational framework for nurses in a developing hospital overseas.

It is strongly recommended that interested candidates make contact with the Directors of Nursing.
