This is a unique opportunity to manage and develop an 18-bedded ward (9 males, 9 females) dedicated to young adults experiencing their first episode of psychosis. The only one of its kind, the in-patient unit provides a safe, collaborative and therapeutic environment with close links to Early Intervention Community and Early Detection Teams.
The ward team delivers care from 18-35 with a focus on psychosocial evidence based interventions, considered commencement of medication and collaborative engagement with patients and carers in treatment decisions.
The multi professional team provides a thorough assessment for those where diagnosis is unclear across all types of psychoses. Occupational therapists together with nursing staff provide a mix of activity and recovery focused groups.
We have successfully been awarded a Maudsley charity grant to fund additional psychology sessions across ward and community to ensure a smooth transition for discharged patients.
With our recently appointed Consultant this is an exciting opportunity to work together to develop innovative approaches to the care, review and discharge of people using the service.
The ward takes patients from across the 4 SLaM boroughs and managed within the Lambeth Operational Unit which has the advantage of being part of a new and innovative Alliance Partnership which affords greater opportunity for creative and flexible working.
You will be part of a strong leadership team made up of six other ward managers and clinical leads, and will be expected to participate in the local ward mangers development programme due to commence in the next 3 months.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
