An opportunity has arisen to join the Croydon Early Intervention Service on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

The Croydon Early Intervention Service (COAST) is a specialist multidisciplinary community mental health team who work with adults aged 18-65 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis. The team provides a comprehensive assessment, treatment and recovery service in the Early Intervention Care Pathway of the Psychosis Clinical Academic Group of the Trust. The team works assertively and intensively with service users and carers for up to three years to promote engagement with the team, and offers a range of interventions to facilitate social inclusion and recovery.

You will be responsible for providing specialist psychological assessment, individual therapy (including CBT for psychosis) and family interventions, as well as consultation and supervision as required. You will be offered excellent opportunities to develop your skills in working with psychosis, facilitated by good support and specialist supervision.

You will be part of a larger group of Psychologists and Family Intervention Therapists working to improve access to psychological therapies within Early Intervention. You will receive regular supervision from a Senior Clinical Psychologist, and will have opportunities to link in with psychologists from the other Early Intervention Teams in the Trust. You will also have access to specialist supervision groups, including trauma and systemic supervision.

We are looking for energetic and motivated Clinical / Counselling Psychologists who have a genuine interest in Early Intervention in Psychosis, and the ability to work effectively as part of a large multidisciplinary team. Psychological input is valued in the team, and considered an integral part of the service on offer to our service users and their families.

The South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is in partnership with King’s College London (including the IoPPN), Guys and St Thomas Trust, and King’s College Hospital Trust to form King’s Health Partners (KHP). The trust is organised to align clinical services with research and training, with Clinical Academic Groups (CAGs) formed to enable this. Early Intervention for Psychosis is part of the Psychosis Clinical Academic Group (CAG) which is the largest of seven CAGs. The post holder will be based within the Early Intervention Care Pathway of the Psychosis CAG.
